Waking Up is Hard

Ellie normally wakes up with bad hair, but today was the worst I have seen.

Faces of Ellie

Look at those lips!

Daddy's scowl (oh please help me!)

Smiles are the best of all!

My peeps

I don't know that we can say we are now potty training Ellie, but we are definitely planting the seeds. You see, for the last month or two we've been talking to Ellie about how big people use the potty. But since she has mostly had the attention span of a gnat during this time, all we could do was mention it to her in passing.

Well last week EM actually got her to sit on the potty and try to pee. And whaddyaknow? She did it on her very first try! Since that time, it has become an evening routine. Each night before bath time, Ellie sits on the potty and EM reads her a story. And intermittently EM and Ellie talk about peeing. Unfortunately, we have had no repeat of the first night success; however, it is really no big deal since we are achieving another objective in the meantime: having her sit still for an extended period of time.

Anyhow, I provide all this as background because tonight I heard Ellie say the cutest thing: "Come out peep peep." Alas, her peeps would not cooperate.

Ellie strikes again!

It's been awhile (as far as I can recall), but Ellie and her strange attachments have resurfaced. Last night she insisted on going to bed with her Mickey plate. Then, as we left for Nanny's, she insisted on taking it with us in the car. Odd little girl.

Happy Valentine's Day!

To Payton:

Ellie received a Valentine's Day card in the mail today from her friend, Payton. She carried it around for quite awhile. At dinner she suprised ED and myself by very clearly proclaiming "Happy Valentine". In the attached video we get her to say it again and thank Payton for the card. Enjoy.

Package deal

As I got ready to leave the house this morning, I could hear over the monitor that Ellie was awake. This isn't unusual. I leave the house around seven every day, and I'd say that half the time she's awake and the other half I have to wake her. Anyhow, as I walked in her room this morning there she was sitting up, holding on tightly to two baby dolls and a teddy ("tebby") bear. It came across to me as "all or nothing." It made for an amusing start to the day.

Conversation

This took place earlier in the week, during bathtime:

Ellie: More soap?
EM: We're all out of soap.
Ellie: (Looking over her shoulder, evoking images of Dora) Backpack?

I had a good laugh when I heard about this. Our little girl has quite the imagination and fixation (still) with all things Dora.

Sunday in the park

Last Sunday was 60 degrees and sunny. Nans, Papa, Ellie, and myself took advantage of the nice weather and headed to a local park. Ellie had a great time. The cold snap that we have experienced this week is forcasted to break Saturday with temps in the mid 60s. We will be outside!
